CAIRO-2 April 2021: Al Ahly head of medical staff Dr. Ahmed Abu Abla stated on Friday that Al Ahly players tested negative for COVID-19 ahead of their vital game against Al Merrikh of Sudan on Saturday.

Al Ahly will face the Sudanese giants at Al Hilal stadium in Matchday 5 of the CAF Champions League group stage.

"We studied our opponent very well and we know that they have a lot of great players. Additionally, we will be playing the game in Sudan, which is an advantage for them.” Al Ahly assistant coach Sami Komsan told Al Ahly official website.

Al Ahly hope to get the three points to secure their qualification to the quarter-finals in their journey to defend the African title.

Komsan added "We started our preparations for the game ever since we were in Cairo. I believe that we prepared very well and everything is going as planned.”

Al Ahly are second in the group, three points behind Simba SC, and the two teams will face off in the last game of the group stage.

The game starts on 3:00 pm.
