CAIRO-27 March 2021: Zamalek’s spokesperson, Amr El Dardir, denied on Saturday the reports that linked the club with a move for Al Ahly’s former Moroccan striker, Walid Azzaro.

“There are no negotiations with any player right now. We will postpone everything till the end of the season to give the coaching staff the time to decide the squad’s needs.” El Dardir said.

Azzaro is a weel-known figure for football fans in Egypt as he defended Al Ahly’s jersey between 2017 and 2020, having scored 41 goals in 89 games in all competitions.

Azzaro is now playing for Saudi Arabia’s Ettifaq and he is having a good season with the team, having scored five goals in 20 appearances with the club this season.

El Dardir added “We are focusing on our upcoming challenges in the domestic league and the CAF Champions League competitions. We are leading the league table and we also have an important game against MC Alger of Algeria.”

Zamalek are stuggling this season in the CAF Champions League as they are third in the group with 2 points, six points behind the group runners-up MC Alger and eight points behind the group leaders, Esperance.
