In cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Ministry of Environment, and the State Ministry of Information, the European Union (EU) Delegation to Egypt launches the 13th edition of its photography competition themed “A Journey to Egypt’s Past and Future”.

The competition aims at encouraging Egyptian photography enthusiasts from all over the country to portray the beauty of Egypt’s historical monuments, the modern outstanding projects and/or the connection between Egypt’s civilization and modern sustainable development projects implemented in various fields.

Shedding the lights on these talents, The EU Delegation offers awards to the first three winners, as well as holding an exhibition featuring the top 30 photos. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities will grant a special award to two photographers who promote the country’s rich tourism sector. Additionally, the Ministry of Environment, represented by Eco Egypt, grants another special award to the best photo taken at a nature reserve. Launched in September 2020, Eco Egypt targets raising public awareness about the importance of the environment, natural resources and environmental tourism.

Photographers are invited to highlight the wealth and beauty of Egypt’s civilisation, heritage and culture; promote the Egyptian touristic sites and its ecotourism sector, including photos of the wildlife and plants diversity in the country; and shed light on the modern mega projects implemented with the aim of achieving the SDGs and Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The deadline for submission is Monday, 15th of March 2021. Photographers wishing to participate can apply online through the following website: www.euphotocompetition.com/egypt

The competition, organized since 2008, aims to enhance the cultural dialogue between Egyptians and Europeans and highlight the strengthened partnership between EU and Egypt.
