CAIRO - 24 June 2017: Star gazing is a beautiful experience, but knowledge of astronomy will make it even more humbling.

Astrotrips will give you the adequate knowledge to watch the sky from a completely new perspective, from major stars and constellations, the moon, planets, distant galaxies, as well as the right backyard observatory tools.

A course will be held in the headquarters of Astrotrips in Mohandeseen, Cairo, July 2-15. They will teach basic sky geometry, reading a star chart, measuring angles in the sky, and the names of stars. The cost of the course is LE 700 ($ 50) for two sessions per week, three hours each.

“Topics include the formation and characteristics of the Solar System, including the planets and minor members of the system; telescopes; the Sun; the birth, life and death of stars; galaxies and dark matter; active galaxies and quasars; Big Bang cosmology,” said Astrotrips instructor Amr Abdulwahab on the event page.

Abdulwahab is consultant at the National Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics.

Make sure you go on star gazing trips in Egypt after the course. Several groups in Egypt; Astrotrips, the Egyptian Society for Astronomy, and Chefchaouen, to name a few, take their equipment and interested star gazers to amazing spots around the country to watch the movement of the stars in the Western Desert, Siwa, Fayoum, and South Sinai. The trips are great opportunities for photographers, too.
