The #1 mobile operator “Vodafone Egypt” announced renewing its partnership with the iconic footballer player of Mohamed Salah, to be their brand ambassador, in a strategic step to confirm Vodafone’s presence and commitment to the Egyptian market. This comes after the partnership between Vodafone and Mohamed Salah has achieved unprecedented success bringing the Egyptian King closer to his fans and followers in Egypt when he was featured in Vodafone remarkable advertising campaigns.

The ceremony that took place in London, Alexandre Froment-Curtil Vodafone Egypt’s CEO asserted the company’s commitment to the Egyptian market and their efforts to continue to be present in the market now more than ever, bringing their customers the best services, products and the #1 celebrities in their campaigns for a good cause.

Mohamed Salah has grown into a momentous icon for youth in Egypt and around the world. Recently, he was named by the Time Magazine in 2019 as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, making him the perfect fit for Vodafone, which is a brand characterized with being youthful, up-to-date and influential.

Mohamed Salah has been a brand ambassador for Vodafone Egypt since the end of 2017 fronting the company’s advertising campaigns. In 2018, Vodafone Egypt launched the ‘Mo Salah World’ promotional plan, which offered customers 11 free voice minutes every time he scored a goal, which connected Salah more with his fans.

Known for his philanthropic activities in various development fields including education, Mohamed Salah was chosen to become Vodafone Foundation and UNHCR Instant Network Schools 1st Ambassador. Salah will help in expanding the program in his home country Egypt , as well as across the African continent, especially in Mozambique. The program that was launched in 2013, aims at connecting refugee students to quality digital education and improving the quality of education in some of the most marginalized communities in Africa.

With 36 Instant Network Schools currently operating across eight refugee camps in Kenya, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan, the program has benefitted over 86,500 students and 1,000 teachers ensuring that refugees and children from the communities that host them have access to accredited, quality, and relevant learning opportunities.

Vodafone Foundation and UNHCR are jointly investing €26 million to expand the program to benefit 500,000 refugee and host community students and 10,000 teachers.
In his new role as Ambassador, Mo Salah will visit schools supported by the program and will also help Vodafone Foundation and UNHCR raise awareness of the need for digital education for refugee children to enable them to shape their own futures.
