CAIRO - 16 January 2020: Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad discussed with Egyptian motorcyclist, adventurer, and world records holder Ali Abdo the underway preparations for his upcoming journey, the world’s longest trip on electric motorcycle.

During his journey that aims to raise awareness on using clean energy to protect the environment, Abdo is set to break a new Guinness World Records.

Abdo's attempt could be utilized to raise awareness on the goals of "Go Green" national campaign, which was kicked by the Environment Ministry under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, as well the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), minister Fouad said.

Meanwhile, the minister shed light on the key role of youth in protecting the environment and its natural resources.

Set to kick off on February 22, under the aegis of Environment Ministry, Abdo's 100-day motorcycle tour of Egypt will cover 25,000 km, including visiting 75 Egyptian cities and capturing 150 locations.

The journey will take the world records holder across all Egyptian governorates.

In September, the UNDP announced partnering with Abdo with a view to promoting the SDGs, raise awareness about environmental challenges in Egypt, reduce harmful air pollution and fuel consumption, and promote the use of electric vehicles across the country.
