CAIRO – 1 June 2019: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s initiative to develop the electronic game applications has received intense registration from Egyptian and African youth, CEO deputy of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Hossam Othman told Egypt Today Online on Saturday.

Youth from 15 African countries, including Algeria, Cameroon, South Africa, Togo, and Madagascar, have registered with the initiative program that aims to train 10,000 Egyptian and African young people to develop the electronic game applications, CEO deputy of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) told Egypt Today Online on Saturday.

The initiative aims at creating new 100 Egyptian and African companies specialized in electronic game to compete internationally, he added. The annual program will last over the coming three years and competitions will be held every six months to choose winning projects of the will-be startups in this field, he said.

Ministry of Communication has signed contract with international companies specialized in electronic games to train the registered youth, he continued.

The applicant should be graduated since 2016 and should have an experience in communication and information technology.

President Sisi has launched the initiative in the 2018 edition of Cairo ICT conference. The initiative aims at creating a new generation has a great experience in digital transformation and at stimulating technological innovation, not only in Egypt, but on the African continent as a whole, Sisi said.

Concerning “Fekretak Sherketak”, a nationwide initiative that aims to support and accelerate the growth of entrepreneurs to develop innovate businesses in today’s competitive economy, around 50 start-ups have been established and funded.
