CAIRO – 29 May 2017: “Cairo Pass”, designed for foreigners to visit archaeological and Islamic heritage sites and museums in Cairo over five days, will be available in November, according to the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities.
Cairo Pass costs $100 for foreign visitors and $50 for foreign students. It can be issued at the headquarters of the Department of Cultural Relations at the Ministry of Antiquities in Zamalek, the Salah el-Din Citadel, the Egyptian Museum or the Pyramids.
A photo and a photocopy of the passport are required for getting the pass. Foreign students should provide their photo and the student ID.
Foreign travel agencies had submitted a request to the Egyptian Antiquities Ministry in order to pilot Cairo Pass at the archaeological sites in Luxor.
Cairo pass aims to improve the financial resources of the Antiquities Ministry as well as Egypt's resources which bring foreign currency to the country.
