CAIRO – 9 November 2018: A number of tourists of different nationalities confirmed the stability of security situation in Egypt, in an interview with CNN Arabic.

The tourists appeared in a video arguing that the international media did not reflect the real picture of the security situation in the country, adding that they negatively exaggerated incidents.

They said they have found this picture portrayed by media untrue when they visited the country themselves, expressing enjoyment of their holidays in Egypt that they intend to visit it again.

“I have been in Egypt as a tourist 18 times. My first time was now nearly 20 years ago,” one of the tourists stated, naming a number of ancient monuments and tourists attractions she loves in Egypt.

“I’m here already since long time. I live in Egypt already since over 15 years; all this time I have never been afraid to be here,” another tourist said. She also complained that media sometimes exaggerate events, and “make a lot of nothing.”

“I can just only say Egypt is a fantastic country. It is safe. Nobody has to be afraid to fly over here,” she added.

Another tourist said that the internet and the press abroad say that difficult things happen here which he says “was holding [him] back a little bit,” adding he thought “military [will] always be around which is not the case.”

The number of tourist to Egypt increased by 41 percent in the first half of 2018 to 5.061 million tourists, Reuters reported, while the tourism sector revenues increased by 77 percent in the same period to $4.791.
