CAIRO – 22 May 2017: A Chinese governmental delegation visited Aswan last week to propose a 100 billion Yuan ($14.5 million) project that would attract one million Chinese tourists to Egypt by the end of the year.

The delegation from an overseas tourism promotion authority in Rai Zhao City, China, is targeting to implement the project in five countries, including China, Egypt, India, Peru and Greece.

A press conference discussing the project, which aims to promote tourism in the five countries, is set to take place in China in September.

The delegation stayed in Egypt for five days, during which they met with officials of the Egyptian Travel Agencies Association and signed the projects agreement. During the visit, the delegation had a sightseeing tour, including Abu Simbel city in southern Egypt, Aswan High Dam, Philae Temple and the Nubian Museum.

Members of the delegation expressed their delight with the visit, saying that it aimed to learn about Pharanoic civilization, and boost bilateral relations in cultural fields by attracting large number of Chinese tourists to the Egypt.

The Chinese government has allocated 100 billion Yuan (L.E. 2.6 billion) for the project. The first phase of the project began in Greece last year and attracted large number of Chinese tourists to the country, according to the delegation.
