CAIRO – 20 January 2018: Spanish authorities have expressed their worries about British tourists choosing Egypt over Spain because of its newfound state of stability, according to the British newspaper The Sun
Spanish travel agents have taken measures to try and prevent millions of British tourists from visiting Egypt in summer 2018.
Spain’s anxiety is due to Egypt’s great number of tourist attractions, including resorts, historical places and monumental sites, as well as the low cost of all flights and tours for Egypt.
The Sun added that Spain is no longer able to rely on tourists choosing Spain over Egypt as they were when the country was less stable, as tours to Egypt are beginning to resume.
In 2017, Spain recorded around 82 million tourists visiting the country, which means an 8.9 percent increase in comparison to 2016, making it one of the most sought after destinations for British tourists after France.
If the British choose Egypt over Spain, Spain will lose around 18 million tourists.
