CAIRO - 11 January 2018: EgyptAir Express company inked a cooperation protocol with the New Valley governorate to operate a weekly flight between Cairo and Kharga with the aim of encouraging investments in the area, located in the southwestern part of the country, in its Western Desert.

The protocol was signed by Chairman of EgyptAir Express Helmi Rezq and New Valley Governor Mohamed el Zamalout, according to an EgyptAir statement.

The flights will be operated on Sundays as of January 16, Rezq said. This will be the schedule for the first three months and then the number of flights could be increased later on, he said.

The move serves the government's plans to boost investment and development opportunities in all Egyptian governorates by operating internal flights on more domestic routes, said Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Safwat Musallam.
