Sheer garments are one of those fashion trends that keep coming back and reinventing themselves over and over again. Let’s also not forget that they’re having a big share of appearing on the red carpet of several festivals, big events, and gala dinners. Sheer comes in different styles and pieces from blouses and tops to dresses, skirts, and even pants. The problem with sheer or mesh is that one mistake can make the whole outlook go wrong or even controversial.

So how can you wear sheer and mesh with confidence?

1. Go For Layers.

The best way to style sheer garments is through layering. Try a long shirt dress or a blazer, or a sweater above a sheer skirt or wear a sheer dress with an underneath shorter dress preferably with the same color.

2. Keep the fitting loose.
Tight sheer can look a bit tacky. The looser the better. Think of loose sheer or mesh blouses with underneath tank tops or bralettes tucked in jeans or more formal pants for an elegant look.

3. Use the right undergarment.
Wearing your normal bra underneath a sheer blouse is a big faux pas. Here is where the role of nice bralettes and bandeau tops come to play. Also, avoid wearing black under white and vice versa.

4. Try embellishment.
For an accentuated look, try embellished mesh or sheer it would look more interesting than just plain basic sheer fabric. Embellishment will make it look richer and dressier for special occasions.

5. Add structure.

With the loose fitting of your sheer piece, you need to add more structure. Wear a structured padded blazer on top of your sheer blouse or match it down with a fitted skirt. A waist belt will also accentuate the outfit and give more structure to your body.
