1st camel race to be held in Salloum Saturday

CAIRO - 15 October 2022: The first camel race to be held in Salloum on Saturday, where 30 rounds to be attended by camel owners from all governorates. 
 
During the past two days, 400 camels from all governorates of Egypt arrived at the camel racing field east of Salloum in Marsa Matrouh governorate to participate in the activities of the first camel race organized by the Egyptian Camel Federation, with the support of the UAE Camel Federation.
 
Sheikh Mohamed Abu Anka, head of the technical committee of the Egyptian Camel Federation, said that 400 camels were registered and arrived at the racetrack in Salloum from the governorates of Sinai, New Valley, Canal governorates, Upper Egypt and Matrouh governorates.
 
He added that a team from the Technical Committee is present in the field and receives the camels to register the names of the common camels, their type and the name of their owner, and to swear an oath on the validity of the submitted data and place them on the racing groups according to their age and type.
 
He also added that all camels will participate in the race, pointing out that each camel owner attended with his camel and those who serve it from a camel.
