These days we are all having our summer breaks and surely trying to get the most out of them. But today I ask you to be honest and ask yourself…
Are you genuinely enjoying your break or are you focused on make it look like you are enjoying?
Do you look around and compare yourself to others? In other words, do you struggle with comparison and fall short?
Who and what are you comparing yourself to? Are you trying to become the person you are comparing yourself to? Is it really working for you?
Well, there is definitely nothing wrong with planning a perfect summer vacation or having a perfect fit for it while wearing the trendiest outfits. But let’s admit it, today’s social life is putting huge pressure on most of us. It pushes us constantly to focus on having ‘The Perfect’ in everything so we can, sad as it may sound, boast in front of everyone while it deprived us from focusing on what really makes us happy. People are becoming obsessed with social media, and they use it as a display window for every detail in their lives so the whole world would know what a perfect life they are having!! But is this all true?
Our life is so precious, it’s worth to be lived and filled with true happy moments, with true amazing memories. Our obsession should be on how to enjoy every single moment regardless of what others might think. What is perfect for others is not necessarily perfect for you.
Let me share with you 3 key tips for having the best summer, your way!
Yes, be yourself! This is possibly the simplest but most difficult thing to do on this list. Being our true selves should be the easiest thing in the world if it wasn’t for the fact that we cared too much about what other people think.
To live your best life means to live your life in authenticity. Only by being the most authentic expression of yourself; will you be able to enjoy life to the fullest.
Other people’s opinions are overrated, and let me tell you a secret: what other people think of you has nothing to do with you, but everything to do with themselves. So, be yourself regardless!
No matter who you choose to be or what you do; it is impossible to be liked by everyone. There will always be people who won’t like you no matter what. So, choose to be yourself and surround it with people that like you for who you really are.
Stop Comparing Your Life to Others
Another issue that can really ruin your summer is when you start comparing your vacation to others. You can spend a long period of time preparing and planning for a beautiful holiday, say in North Coast, while believing you’ll really enjoy. Suddenly an Instagram story pops up, your friend tanning on a boat in Greece, then immediately you start rethinking yours.
So before seeing your dream vacation fainting; always keep in mind that what you see of other’s lives on social media is just a snapshot. You did not see the whole picture! You do not live her or his life.
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life”
Enjoy and Be in the Present Moment
There is only one time when you can be living your best life, and that is right now.
This precise moment, right now, is when you can and should be happy. This is the only time you have the power over and when you can make a choice to live your best life.
It doesn’t matter what you are doing right now – whether you are at work, at home or in Bali having the best holiday of your life. You have the power to make this moment the best that it can possibly be.
Enjoy your break so by the end of it you can say “Wow that was one cool fun summer”. You really don’t need to prove anything to anyone here.
