Everyone is getting ready for the most enjoyable time of the year. Summer is here with all the fun it brings along; beach and pool time, partying, and long nights with friends. Whether traveling abroad or planning a trip to North Coast or Gouna, packing light makes things a lot easier. But, we often get caught between wanting to take a lot of clothes to make sure we have enough variety for the vacation, or minimizing the items and ending up feeling we should have bought some extra. So, wouldn’t you just love it if you can pack light and still have more than enough items to revamp your look every day during the vacation? Here’s what to do:

Don’t use a big suitcase. The best way to avoid overpacking is using a small suitcase. With a big suitcase, you will feel tempted to keep adding more items and eventually you will end up carrying a lot of stuff.

Do make a list. One way to avoid packing a lot of stuff is to create a packing list based on how many days you are staying and your itinerary. You can take only a couple of extra items just in case.

Don’t pack the full-size bottle of toiletries. Minimize as much as you can carrying full bottles of shampoo, shower gel, and lotion. Opt for refillable travel-size bottles.

Do pack versatile items and basics. Instead of packing very specific clothing items that cannot be styled in different outfits, pack versatile basic items in addition to the must-haves.

Don’t pack too many shoes. Shoes tend to consume a lot of space. Instead of packing a different shoe for every outfit, pack just two or three that can match several outfits. Also, don’t pack them in the box, you can wrap them in a plastic bag or dust bag.

Do fold and organize your suitcase smartly. One of the reasons why our suitcases don’t fit everything is because we place everything in haphazardly. Keep your things organized in packing cubes or thin drawstring bags for ease of access and to easily check if everything you need is in there.

Don’t forget to weigh your suitcase. You want to make sure you really packed light and didn’t exceed the weight limit. You can buy affordable travel scales to use at home and weigh your luggage before heading to the airport.
