CAIRO – 21 April 2022: The Red Sea is one of the world’s most seas in terms of biological diversity and the presence of rare and unique marine creatures.


This contributes to putting Egypt on global ranks for countries enjoying marine tourism, especially diving activities.


Among these marine creatures are the dolphins, which are found in several specific places called “dolphin homes,”  atop of which is the ​​​​Satayeh reefs area in the south of the Red Sea, specifically in the city of Marsa Aam within the scope of the Wadi El-Gamal Reserve.


In the below lines, et highlights information about the largest dolphin houses in the Red Sea:


-       Satayeh reefs have the largest concentration of spinner dolphins in the Red Sea, and their flocks consist of dozens of dolphins.


-       It belongs to the Wadi El-Gamal Reserve and is considered one of the most dolphin houses.


-       The spinner dolphins are spotted from their distinguished dorsal fin, and are found inhabiting in Satayeh reefs.




-       The Red Sea reserves have defined a program of areas of use, in which the areas where boats are allowed to park are identified with the surface reefs, as well as the diving areas and the areas for the passage of small boats, in order to preserve the life of dolphins in the surface reefs.


-       From March until December, the appearance of the spinner dolphin begins in large numbers on the surface reefs, which may be a source of fascination for those who see it for the first time, especially tourists.




-       Tourists arrive specially from different countries such as Italy and France to dive in the Satayeh area to see dolphins.


-       Satayeh reefs are one of the three most important dolphin homes in the Red Sea, namely, the Erg reefs in Hurghada, the Satayeh reefs in Marsa Alam, as well as Samadai in Marsa Alam, but the Satayeh reefs are distinguished by the presence of the spinner dolphins.
