Following the country’s massive success at Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Egypt will host its first Ice Hockey Tournament under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports, and in partnership with the Egyptian National Olympic Committee (ENOC), the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion and the Canadian Friendship Association. Organized by Egypt Ice Hockey and Egypt Winter Sports, Egypt Ice Hockey Experience 2021 (EIHE 2021) will be held between the 24th and the 26th of October and will take place at Genena Mall’s ice rink.
Egypt, despite not having a current winter sports federation, has previously participated in a number of international ice hockey matches. Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports as well as Sherif El Erian, Secretary-General of Olympic Committee will cut the ribbon of the first ice hockey tournament in Egypt, in line with the state’s effort to become part of international winter sports.
The second day of the tournament will host Ambassador Nabila Makram, Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs. This day will shed the light on the role of women in Egyptian society and especially their roles and successes in sports.
Additionally, as part of a social contribution, the tournament will host young people from the neighborhood of Asmarat as well ‘Almowahadeen’ orphanage, where they will be introduced to the sport of ice hockey, get the chance of participating in skating with the Egyptian team, and get back home with gifts.

A number of Olympic athletes and renowned skaters including Ahmed Fayed and Khaled al-Shobokshi will attend the event to showcase the talents of local players as well as expatriates and dual nationals, all showing their support for the idea of an official winter sports federation.
