CAIRO – 1 October 2021: The Youth Love Egypt (YLE) Foundation has launched a large-scale cleanup campaign in the River Nile in cooperation with the Cairo Engineers Syndicate and the Kuwait-based multinational retail franchise operator Al-Shaya Group.

A total of 40 participants have gathered in boats across the Nile and removed plastic rubbish in 35 big bags, including plastic bottles, diapers, agricultural waste, and others threatening the validity of drinking water.

The campaign is one in a series of campaigns launched by the Youth Love Egypt Foundation over four years to curb plastic pollution.

The campaigns have sought to improve people’s behaviour so that they become more keen to preserve nature and environment that we live in.

The campaign was launched in cooperation with the Cairo Engineering Syndicate and its Abu El-Feda club in Zamalek.

The campaign to clean up the river comes as a continuation of the awareness-raising activities implemented by the “Youth Love Egypt” Foundation over recent years to adapt to climate changes and other environmental problems.

These activities have led to positive and effective results in preserving nature and treating the damage caused by the environmental crisis in Egypt.

The YLE has been the official coordinator of the World Hygiene Day in Egypt over five years, under which tens of entities nationwide have participated in a prominent initiative from 18-25 September along with the Foundation.

The initiative included cleaning Cairo’s Flowers Park and beaches of South Sinai’s Dahab city in cooperation with the governorates of Alexandria, Giza and Assiut.
