CAIRO – 21 March 2021: The Board of Trustees of the Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture and Arts announced that the Plastic Art Criticism Award presented by the foundation within the awards of its second edition in 2021 is named after late former Minister of Culture and Professor of Creativity Psychology at the Egyptian Academy of Arts Shaker Abdel Hamid.

According to a statement made by the foundation, this comes in recognition of Abdel Hamid’s role in promoting Egyptian culture in general, and plastic art in particular, where he was one of the most important researchers of the Egyptian plastic art movement and its manifestations, and also one of the academics who had more impact on the ground.

“We are also proud of the role that the late minister had played with the Farouk Hosni Foundation for Culture and Arts to discover Egyptian talents through his participation as chair of the jury of the Fine Art Criticism Award launched by the foundation,” mentioned the statement.

The foundation is scheduled to announce the names of the winners of the five branches in a grand ceremony at the Gezira Arts Center in Zamalek on March 30, at 6 p.m.
