CAIRO – 7 March 2021: On Monday 8, the Italian Culture Institute will host a concert for pianist Rita Marcotulli, on the occasion of International Women's Day. The concert will be broadcast on the institute's Facebook page at 7 p.m. and will be available for 48 hours.

 

 

Rita Marcotulli is an eclectic artist. She started playing professionally in the 1970s and later began collaborating with international artists such as Chet Baker and John Christensen, among others.

 

 

In 1987, she was voted Best New Talent by a poll conducted by Musica Jazz Magazine. In 1996, she accompanied Pat Metheny to a performance at San Remo.

 

 

Marcotulli composed the soundtrack for Rocco Papaleo's movie "Basilicata Coast to Coast". It won the Ciak d'Oro Award for Best Soundtrack in 2010 as well as the Nastro d'Argento Award for Motion Picture Journalism in the Best Soundtrack category.

 

 

In 2011, she was awarded the prestigious David di Donatello Award and was also awarded Top Jazz Award as Best Italian Jazz Artist according to Musica Jazz Magazine.

 

 

In February 2013, Marcotulli was a member of the jury of the 63rd San Remo Music Festival.
