CAIRO – 25 February 2021: The Heliopolis Association is participating in the "Books Are Lives" initiative, which aims to boost the culture of writers and develop the imagination of children, young people and adults from orphanages.

The initiative also aims to broaden their perspectives, encouraging them to read, learn about new cultures and develop their writing and creative skills.

The association’s participation in this comes through the Heliopolis Library, one of the association’s cultural platforms, where the library donated 800 books to a number of orphanages.

Nabil Helmy, president of the Heliopolis Association, said that the participation comes within the framework of the association’s efforts to interact with the various cultural events taking place in the country.

For her part, Iman Mahdi, director of Heliopolis Library, said that the initiative was launched by the individual efforts of both Dalia Nassar and Maram Shawky, and relies on collecting books as in-kind donations from institutions and individuals. The books are then reviewed to ensure the quality of the content.

The initiative targets children residing in orphanages from 4 to 18 years, children residing in juvenile rehabilitation and support homes, as well as children and youth in the neediest villages.
