CAIRO – 24 February 2020: As part of Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' plan to follow-up on the development works of tourism services in the "Reviving the Path of the Holy Family" project, Vice Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs Ghada Shalaby,  Deputy Governor for the Southern Region Gehan Abdel Moneim, Head of the Islamic, Coptic and Jewish Antiquities Sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities Osama Talaat, Director of International Relations and Strategic Planning at the Tourism Development Board and the National Coordinator for the Revival of the Holy Family’s Path Adel el-Gendy inspected the ongoing developing works aiming to develop tourism services in the Old Cairo area.

 

 

During the tour a number of main aspects were discussed, including the accomplished development works, the road paving, raising the efficiency of the area, the development of tourism services provided to visitors, the placement of guiding signs, as well as inspecting the Abo Serga Church and the cave located at the bottom of it, which the Holy Family took shelter in while passing through the area during their visit to Egypt. They also visited the Hanging Church and met with several priests.
