CAIRO – 11 February 2021: Famed Egyptian singer Ali Hemeida passed away on February 11 at the age of 55, after a struggle with illness.

Hemeida had recently suffered from deteriorating health, and was transferred to the hospital after the intervention of the Egyptian Syndicate of Musical Professions.

Ali Hemeida, born in 1965, became famous for the song "Lulaki", which at the time of its release was a great success and 6 million copies of the album were sold in 1988.

Despite the album's success, Hemeida gradually kept out of the limelight, however, "Lulaki" is still an icon in the Egyptian and Arab music world.
