CAIRO – 27 January 2021: Ahmed Bahaa el-Din Culture Palace for Children, affiliated to the Assiut Culture Palace, organized a storytelling workshop for children on January 26, on the biography of the late leader Gamal Abdel Nasser.

Writer Heba Mohammad Abboud Mahmoud spoke about his birth and his most important achievements.

Nasser was born on January 15, 1918, to a family from the village of Bani Mur, Assiut. In 1936, he obtained his baccalaureate degree. On July 23, 1952, the Blessed Revolution took place under his leadership.

On June 18, 1953, the monarchy was abolished and a republic was declared. He was elected President of the Republic, and during his reign, free education was achieved. Factories were established and the Egyptian army was rebuilt on modern foundations.

Nasser stirred the feelings of freedom in the colonial countries and became a leading example for the Arabs and Africans.

He passed away after a long struggle that changed the face of the political map in the Arab and Islamic world, on September 28, 1970, where the Arab masses gave him an unprecedented solemn procession.
