CAIRO – 18 January 2021: The Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s Academic Research Sector published a children's story entitled "The Adventures of a Sailor and the Star of the Sea", in cooperation with the University of Alexandria, the Greek Vardinogiannis Foundation and the UNESCO Chair for Underwater Cultural Heritage.

The story is written by Jihan Nabil and is the first of its kind in the Arab Library; it aims to introduce children from 6 to 12 years old to the value and importance of the underwater cultural heritage, and the need to preserve it. It is the first children's story published by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in this field.

The library encouraged the issuance of this story because of it educates children about the importance of underwater cultural heritage, and that was after the idea of the story was announced in the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies.

The story is one of the contributions of the Underwater Cultural Heritage Awareness Project "Bahar", affiliated to the Maritime Archeology Center at Alexandria University, supported by the Honor Frost Foundation for Scientific Research in England.
