CAIRO – 17 January 2021: Head of the Culture, Media and Antiquities Committee in the House of Representatives Doria Sharaf El-Din, said that the new Parliament enjoys additions that serve Egypt, such as great diversity and broad representation of Egyptian women in all disciplines, a high percentage of youth, and a good percentage of Christians.

Sharaf El-Din added, during a phone call to the "Al-Hayat Al-Yom" program presented by Lubna Assal on the Al-Hayat TV channel, that media, culture and antiquities are interconnected, explaining that culture spreads and influences the citizen only through the media.

She described a country’s antiquities without knowledge as a major idle national treasure, expressing her hopes that all aspects of the Egyptian cultural life will recover and Egypt will return to its leading position in the cultural arena of the Arab world and the Mediterranean Sea.

Also, Sharaf El-Din indicated that the media role is important worldwide, saying that the media in its traditional form of newspapers and television and radio channels will never disappear, not even with the growing popularity of the social networking sites.

She stressed the importance of the state’s systematic media, commenting “We have to act as a hub for Egyptian and Arab media, as we do not want citizens to resort to other hostile media platforms.”
