2020: A successful year for Misr Public Library

CAIRO – 27 December 2020: Misr Public Library Group announced the harvest of the year 2020, in terms of the number of activities and events organized by the libraries scattered around the governorates nationwide, and the number of visitors, whether in real-time or virtually, in addition to the number of books loaned by the library during the year.

 

According to the statistical statement issued by the library, during 2020, Misr Libraries loaned 263,050 books, while the number of internal reviews reached 69,327.

 

The total number of library visitors came to 1285,147 visitors. The statement also revealed that the library held 1663 training programs, with a total of 54857 participants.

 

In general, the total number of activities held in Misr Public Library reached 11,734, with a total of  331293 participants. The total number of active subscribers has reached 15577 and the total holdings reached 444,804.

 

As for online events, the library organized 2,680 electronic events, 441616 participated in it, and the number of visitors to the library’s official page reached 1344,683 visitors.

 

The Misr Public Libraries System is one of the largest public libraries in Egypt and one of the best.

 

It is one of the pioneering cultural projects in Egypt.

 

It is the product of a joint Egyptian-German international cooperation that includes three parties: the Egyptian Ministry of Culture represented by the Cultural Development Fund, the German Bertelsmann Foundation, which is a German non-governmental organization that works in various fields of public service, including the field of public libraries, the Egypt Society for Culture and Community Development (formerly Integrated Care Association). It is an Egyptian NGO.
