Egypt’s ‘Ammar’ to have its world premiere at Cairo International Film Festival on December 5

CAIRO - 4 December  2020: Egyptian horror film ” Ammer”  will have its world premiere within The Midnight Screenings section at the 42nd Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) on December 5.
 
The film revolves around a misfortunate family, a couple with three children, who moves to the Gharibs' Castle as their new house.
 
Their excitement soon wears off when the house swallows them one after the other, taking them to a horrifying world of past crimes that took place between its walls…or maybe these cursed walls are behind these crimes.
 
Directed by Mahmoud Kamel, and co-written by Ahmed Al-Dahan and Haitham Al-Dahan, Ammar stars Sherif Salama and Eman El Assi. The film is produced by Nilewood and Shofha.
 
In the light of the COVID-19 pandemic, CIFF has changed its date to take place from December 2-10.
 
 
Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) is one of the oldest cultural events in Africa and the Middle East, and is one of the 15 festivals in Africa and the Middle East to be accorded category “A” status by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) in Paris.
 
 
 
 

The 42nd edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) kicked off on December 2, amid strict precautionary measures, and in accordance to the requirements presented by the Egyptian ministry of health and the World Health Organization.


CIFF head Mohamed Hefzy presented Lifetime Achievement Award to acclaimed writer Christopher Hampton.

Veteran Egyptian script writer Wahid Hamed received the Golden Pyramid award for Lifetime Acheivment and Egyptian star Mona Zaki received Faten Hamama Excellence Award.
