CAIRO – 23 November 2020: As a continuation of the Egyptian Opera House's plan to produce serious creative forms, the modern theatrical dance troupe presents “Akhenaten's Dust of Light”, designed and directed by Walid Awny.

The show will be held on November 26 and 29 at 8 p.m. on the Grand Theater.

Awny says that Akhenaten is an exceptional historical figure who has sparked controversy as he sought to lay the foundations for mental perfection and the overall harmony of the essence of life.

“The show knocks on the door of history and embodies the personality of the Pharaoh and his relationship with some of his contemporaries, namely the mother Queen Tiye, father Amenhotep III and wife Nefertiti. It also sheds light on the call he launched more than 3,000 years ago, to embrace a unified religion that transcends the human being and relies on the sanctification of the sun and light. The show depicts the Pharao's conflict with the priests of Amun and their rejection of his principles, through expressive scenes of dancing.”

It is noteworthy that the Modern Dancing Troupe was established in 1993 and is considered the first of its kind in the Arab world. The troupe has achieved great successes by addressing specialized topics in Egyptian and Arab arts and civilization and has presented more than 26 artistic shows.

The troupe participated in many international festivals and won several awards; they also performed in most European and Arab countries, as well as in the United States, China, and Korea, winning the admiration of the masses and critics.
