CAIRO – 18 November 2020: Through its doodle, Google celebrated the 71st birth anniversary of the emperor of Egyptian cinema, the late artist Ahmed Zaki. His birthday falls on November 18, 1949.

 

 

Zaki was born in the city of Al-Zagazig in Sharqiyah Governorate. He began his journey to stardom when he starred in the comedy play "El-Eyal Kebret" [The Children Grew] in 1978.

 

 

The late star then shifted his focus on television, performing the role of the Dean of Arabic Literature Taha Hussein, in the series El-Ayyam [The Days].

 

 

His first movie was “Awlad el-Samt” [Sons of Silence] in 1974.

 

 

In 1980, Zaki had already participated in six films, including “Eskendereya Laih?” [Alexandria, Why?]. The film was directed by the late genius film director Youssef Shaheen.

 

 

Over the course of his career, Zaki presented more than 60 films.

 

 

The late artist Ahmed Zaki was considered the third most popular actor in the list of the 100 best Egyptian films in 1996, as the list included 6 of his films.

 

 

 

Zaki has achieved several awards and honoring in many festivals, including the Alexandria Festival in 1989 and Cairo Film Festival 1990.

 

 

He passed away on March 27, 2005 after a long struggle with lung cancer.
