CAIRO – 20 October 2020: Under the patronage of Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem and Governor of Aswan Ashraf Attia the activities of the Aswan Festival were launched to celebrate the sun illuminating on the face of the statue of Ramses II at Abu Simbel Temple.

 

The activities are held during the period of October 19 – 21.

 

The celebrations began with an exhibition of environmental and Aswanic crafts for women's culture. The national anthem was played before the artistic shows were presented on Fawzy Fawzy Summer Theater.

 

This was followed by a performance by the groups participating in the festival, namely Toshka Troupe for Arts, Beni Suef, Luxor, and Aswan Folk Arts Troupes.

 

The ceremony was supervised by Ahmed el-Shafei, head of the Central Administration for Artistic Affairs at the ministry.
