CAIRO – 30 September 2020: Due to the public mourning announced by the Egyptian state after the demise of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, the Egyptian Opera House headed by Magdy Saber decided to postpone the “Memories of Karnak” celebration, which honors the name of the late Mahmoud Reda, to October 5 -7 instead of September 30.

Set to take place at the opera's Grand Theatre, the shows will be presented by the Cairo Opera Ballet Troupe under the supervision of its Artistic Director Armenia Kamel, accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra.

The celebration mixes shows, live music, and scenes of the famous movie “Gharam Fel Karnak”, directed by Ali Reda and presented by the Reda Folklore Band in the year 1967. It included a selection of kinetic designs by Mahmoud Reda that were inspired by the artistic heritage of various parts of Egypt.

The Egyptian Ministry of Culture had organized several events to celebrate the late folk legend Mahmoud Reda, including “A Night in the Love of Mahmoud Reda” at the Balloon Theater.

The ministry also issued a memorial book to commemorate Reda as one of the symbols of Egyptian creativity and an inspiring example for new generations.
