CAIRO – 13 July 2020: After drastically reducing the number of his roles and appearances in the past years, veteran Egyptian comedian Lotfi Labib talked about his health condition, which forced him to reduce his appearances in cinema and drama, denying his intention to retire.

Labib said in an interview with Egyptian TV on Sunday evening that he was suffering from a stroke that made his movement very difficult.

Labib, 72, has for decades been a star in comedy films, especially during the 1990s and early years of the new millennium.

He was also a success partner for the young generation of actors, and participated in dozens of cinematic, dramatic and theatrical works alongside major stars, most notably Adel Imam, Ahmed Helmi and Mohamed Saad, but his stardom has begun to fade recently.

“I accept acting again, but I am not able to move. I can appear sitting or standing,” said labib.

He considers this as a sign of "respect for the author or director", refusing to "tailor" the roles assigned to him according to his health capabilities, according to Labib.
