CAIRO – 25 June 2020: The Arab Cinema Center continues to present episodes of a series of meetings on its official Instagram account. The guests of the upcoming episode are Syrian critic Ali Wajeeh, and Syrian director (Oscar-winning nominee) Talal Derki.

The meeting will be broadcast on Thursday, June 25, at 6 p.m. GMT. The time of the fourth episode of the Arab Cinema Center meetings in Arab countries are as follows:

Egypt & Sudan: 8 p.m.
UAE: 10 p.m.
Tunisia: 7 p.m.
Morocco: 6 p.m.
Syria, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan and Kuwait: 9 p.m.

Talal Derki is a Syrian director, producer and author who studied cinematography in Athens, before serving as an assistant director in a number of films during the period from 2009 to 2012. He also collaborated as a freelance photographer with CNN and Reuters.

Derki directed a number of award-winning films, including the long documentary "The Return to Homs” that won the Grand Jury Prize in the International Film Department of the Sundance Film Festival.

In 2019, his movie “Of Fathers and Sons” was nominated for the Best Documentary at the Academy Awards. He also won the Best Arab Film and Silver Star for the documentary film at El-Gouna Film Festival in addition to the best documentary at the Arab Film Critics' Awards.

In the Arab Cinema Center's meetings, members of the Arab Film Awards and Arab Critics’ Awards for European Films interview international filmmakers. These meetings are available in Arabic and English on the Arab Cinema Center pages on social media, in addition to the website acc.film.
