CAIRO – 15 May 2020: Egyptian rising star Mido Fayed participated in '' El Ekhteyar'' ( The Choice) playing the role of late great martyr Moemen Rezk Abou el Yazeed who was killed along with late great Ahmed el Mansy in a terror attack launched in Sinai, on an Egyptian Armed Forces checkpoint in Rafah, North Sinai that left 26 Egyptian soldiers dead and many more injured in 2017.

Colonel Ahmed el-Mansy, the commander of the Sa'ka Forces or Thunderbolt Forces, was killed during the clashes between Egyptian army forces and militants, while the army besieged groups of terrorists and foiled attacks that targeted a number of other checkpoints in the Rafah area in North Sinai.

Fayed explained to Egypt Today that he performed all the needed preparations to perform such honourable and patriotic character.

‘’ I talked with Moemen’s family and they told me everything about him as well as all his personal traits, it was very important to know every single detail about him because he is a real character not a fictional one’’ Fayed said.

Moemen was kind, humble, and helpful, he wanted to die while he is defending Egypt. ‘’ He was so eager to die as a martyr, he prayed to god to give him such an honor and our generous god gave him what he has asked for.’’

‘’ El Ekhteyar’’ series houses a lot of patriotic messages, sheds the light on a group pf Egyptian soldiers and officers revealing how much they are brave, loyal, dedicated, have strong faith in god, love each other, strongly believe in what they are doing and ready to die at any time to protect their country’’ Fayed added.

Fayed elaborated that art is one of the major soft powers in Egypt and it has a major role in increasing people awareness, that is why patriotic drama like ‘’ El Ekhteyar is very important.

The Egyptian actor added that he learned a lot from such rich experience especially great director Peter Mimi. ‘’ I benefited a lot from Mimi instructions and I was honoured to work with such great cast which I consider as my family.’’
