CAIRO - 22 April 2020: According to the Gregorian calendar, today, April 22, marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him.

The birth of Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, represents a major event in the history of all humanity, not only in the history of Muslims. His existence has changed the world at the level of religion, culture and geography and still impacts the world today.

According to the lunar calendar, the prophet was born in the Elephant Year, when Abraha al-Habashi tried to destroy the Holy Kaaba, in the notorious incident the Holy Quran refers to in Surat Al-Fil.

The Holy Prophet of Islam was born an orphan without a father. He was raised by his grandfather Abdul Muttalib, and then by his uncle Abu Talib. The noble messenger was distinguished by his high morals from a young age that continued in his early youth and after God chose him to deliver his message when he was 40 years old.

Annually, Muslims around the world celebrate the birth of Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, according to the Hijri calendar. Usually, Muslims do not celebrate the prophet's Gregorian birth anniversary.
