CAIRO - 22 March 2020: Egypt's upcoming Ramadan drama season is witnessing a fierce competition among female actresses, who strive to present unique roles to their fans.

In the following lines, ET sheds light on five famed actresses that aim to present unique roles to their fans in the upcoming Ramadan drama marathon.

Yousra

In Ramadan 2019, famed actress Yousra presented the role of a legal advisor in Mohammed Ali’s series “Ladayna Aqwal Okhra”. The series co-starred Sherine Reda, Naglaa Badr and Ahmed Hatem.

In her upcoming Ramadan series, Yousra will present an entirely new role. Her new series is titled “Dahab Eira” (Fake Gold), where she presents the role of a clothes shop owner. She is always busy solving the problems of her co-workers, neglecting her son Hisham, played by young actor Khaled Anwar. Her son resorts to drug use and becomes an addict. During the series, events between Yousra and her family develop in an interesting social framework.

The series is written by Amin Gamal and Ahmed Adel, and directed by Sameh Abdel Aziz.

Nelly Karim

Karim’s latest series was titled “Ekhtefa” (Disappearance) and did not achieve the expected success Karim’s fans were familiar with looking at her previous works such as “Segn el-Nesa” (Women's Prison) and “Taht el-Saytara” (Under Control).

In the series, Karim played the character of a university professor in Russia. She embarks on a journey to search for her husband who disappeared in mysterious circumstances.

This year, Karim seeks to present a different character, as she embodies the character of a scammer in the comic series "100 Wesh” (100 Faces) with the director Kamila Abu Zekry..

Mai Omar

Mai Omar is one of the stars who always strive to provide different roles; her choices put her at the forefront of the Egyptian stars over the past 3 years.

In 2019, she presented the role of an oppressed lady called Farah, who married an older man in the series “Weld-el Ghalaba” starring famed star Ahmed el-Sakka.

In her upcoming Ramadan series, Omar embodies the character of a prostitute, and a thug's daughter. The events take place in Cairo's Gamaleya district a century ago.

The series is starring Yasser Galal, Riyadh el-Khouli, and Ahmed Salah Hosni. It is written by Hany Sarhan and directed by Hussein al-Manbawi.

Yasmine Sabry

In 2019, Sabry presented the character, Dalida, in the series “Hekayati” (My Story). Dalida was traumatized after the death of her mother, and decided to run away from her family to start an ascending journey. The series is directed by Ahmed Samir Farag.

In the upcoming Ramadan season, Sabry strives to present a totally new character in the new series “Forsa Tanya” (Second Chance) directed by Morqos Adel. In the new series, Sabry plays the role of a pretty girl working for an advertising company. The girl and her fiancé - Ahmed Magdy- go through some difficult circumstances. However, with every dilemma, a person always finds a second chance.

The series co-stars Diab, Edward, and others. It is written by Mohamed Sayed Bashir and Mostafa Gamal Hashem. The series is produced by Synergy.

Hanan Motawe'
