CAIRO - 18 March 2020: Head of the Egyptian Opera, Magdy Saber, inspected the opera's theaters in Cairo, Alexandria and Damanhur to carry out the necessary maintenance work for all theaters during the suspension of concerts and artistic activities.

All the activities of the opera house came to a halt after the prime minister's decision to prevent gatherings and events to counter the spread of the Coronavirus.

In statements made to the press, Saber said that the inspection came as per the instructions of Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem, to invest the suspension time in maintaining, developing and raising the efficiency of cultural sites and buildings.

During his inspection to the various theaters and locations affiliated to the Egyptian Opera, Saber was accompanied by engineering, safety and occupational health officials.

The head of the Egyptian Opera stressed that the necessary maintenance work is being carried out at all theaters, so that they are ready to receive the public as soon as the activities resume, noting that the minor negative effects, which were caused by bad weather during the last period, were addressed.
