25th Aswan Sculpture Symposium concludes on Feb. 22

CAIRO - 23 February 2020: The 25th edition of Aswan International Sculpture Symposium concluded on Feb. 22. The symposium was organized by the Cultural Development Fund in cooperation with Aswan Governorate.

In the closing ceremony, the attendees toured an exhibition of the works of the participating artists, in addition to touring the symposium's Open Museum.

During her speech, Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem stated that Aswan Symposium started as a dream of the Egyptian international artist Adam Hanin. The Ministry of Culture, represented in the Cultural Development Fund, turned it into reality 25 years ago, achieving numerous gains, most importantly the affirmation of Egypt's leadership in sculpture, which distinguished Egyptians for thousands of years.

The minister of culture added that the symposium was able, throughout its numerous editions, to encourage the fine arts movement, specifically in the field of sculpture, producing a new generation of Egyptian sculptors, who participated with their counterparts from around the world in presenting art that was praised by the most prestigious art critics. This effort culminated in the formation of the Open Museum, which is the first of its kind in the world. At the end of her speech, Abdel Dayem thanked the governor of Aswan for his support to the symposium.
