Elissa encourages cancer patients on World Cancer Day

CAIRO - 4 February 2020: The world celebrates today, the World Cancer Day of 2020 under the slogan "I will do it". The year 2019 marks the start of the 3-year campaign (2019-2021).

Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally. It represented an estimated 9.6 million deaths in 2018. Globally, 1 in 6 deaths is due to cancer.

The Lebanese star Elissa, also celebrated World Cancer Day, but in her own way.

“On World Cancer Day, a shout out to all the brave fighters of cancer. Surrender is not an option. Stay strong. Strong will is the key to combat the disease, no matter how fatal it is,” commented Elissa on her official Twitter account.

On the other hand, the Lebanese star is preparing for a concert on the occasion of Valentine's Day, scheduled for Feb. 14, in the Global Village in Dubai.

The Lebanese star completed recording her latest song “Zekrayat'' (Memories) written by Ramy Gamal. The song will be part of her newest album set to be released during Eid al-Fitr. The album consists of numerous songs in the Egyptian and Lebanese dialects.

In December 2019, Elissa released a song titled “Am Thour” (I am rebelling) in support of the Lebanese revolution. The song is written by Seham el Shesha’ and composed by Mohamed Rahim. Her latest video clip was of the song “Kerehni”, which comes among the songs of her album “Ela Kol Eli Beyehbouni” (To all those who love me). The video clip is directed by Angy Gamal.

February 4 marks the World Cancer Day, an international day to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. World Cancer Day is led by the Union for International Cancer Control to support the goals of the World Cancer Declaration, written in 2008.
