CAIRO - 29 January 2020: Despite the difficult circumstances that Syria has been facing, the Syrian publishers were keen to attend the 51st Cairo International Book Fair.

President of the Syrian Publishers Association Haitham Hafez stated that the Syrians are participating with 95 publishing houses in the book fair, stressing that this participation is the strongest in the history of Syria’s participations at the Cairo Book Fair on the cultural level and in terms of sales revenues achieved by the Syrian publishing houses.

Hafez further explained that the publishing industry in Syria is witnessing a remarkable development, especially that the Syrian publishes are working to consolidate the Syrian cultural values through various publications.

“The Syrians consider the Cairo International Book Fair to be one of the most important Arab book fairs, so we seek to communicate with the Egyptian reader and offer him useful content through the publications provided by the Syrian publisher,” commented Hafez to the press.

Hafez resumed that the Syrian participation in the book fair reached 65 direct participations and 30 publishers through agencies. Hafez declared that this rate of participation is the highest among Arab publishing houses after the Egyptian publishers.
