CAIRO - 8 January 2020: ET reveals the first photos of the transferring process of 4 of the ancient Rams from Karnak Temples in Luxor, to Tahrir Square in Cairo.

It was equipped and restored from the first courtyard "Hall of Celebrations" at Karnak to move towards the capital to decorate Tahrir Square during the coming period, precisely around the ancient obelisk set to be transferred from San el-Hagar region in Sharkia Governorate.

This is based on the instructions of the Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el-Anani and Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri.

Sources at the Karnak Temples revealed that over the past period, the four statues that were chosen have been raised and transported from the inside of the celebration hall area, and were located far from the sight of the tourists visiting the Karnak Temples. It was lifted from its position under the supervision and leadership of leaders and workers.

The four statues were completely raised with huge winches to store and restore in a preserved manner during the transportation process, that already started in the afternoon of Jan. 8, resuming into Thursday, Jan. 9.

On the evening hours of Dec. 26, 2019, initial works of lifting and preparing the Ram statues from Karnak Temples began, where officials at the Ministry of Antiquities clarified that the Ram statues being transferred are not among the Rams located in the famed Kebbash Road (Avenue of Sphinxes) that ties Luxor Temple with Karnak Temples, and that it is not among the Ram statues located at the Karnak Temples façade.

The Ministry of Antiquities further clarified that the Rams that are being prepared for transferring are among the ones located in the first courtyard at Karnak Temples, which is located behind the first edifice of the temple.

Prior to the transfer process, the Rams were carefully inspected and restored.
