CAIRO - 26 December 2019: As part of the Christmas and New Year's celebrations of the Egyptian Opera House, Cairo Opera Ballet Troupe and Cairo Opera Orchestra will present the Russian international classic "The Nutcracker" by Tchaikovsky.

Directed by Abdel Moneim Kamel and re-directed by Armenia Kamel, One day-time and six evening concerts will be presented at the Opera House’s Grand Theater from Dec. 25-29 at 8 p.m. and on Dec. 29 at 11 a.m.

Depicting the ability of love to change destinies and influence the course of events in life, "The Nutcracker" has been associated with Christmas and New Year's celebrations. The show depends on dazzling artistic elements and visual tricks used to match the story of the show.

It revolves around the dreams of a little girl named Clara on Christmas Eve after she receives the nutcracker bride from her family friend as a gift for the New Year.

Clara admires the nutcracker bride but unfortunately it was destroyed by her brother Fritz inadvertently. Tearful and sad, Clara goes to sleep only to see the bride has returned to its original state. The nutcracker turns into a handsome prince and a series of dreamy tales take place between Clara and her prince.

It is known that "The Nutcracker" Ballet was composed by Russian musician Tchaikovsky in 1891, drawing inspiration from the story of a French writer named Alexander.
