CAIRO - 4 November 2019: At the foot of the Pyramids of Giza, the Ministry of Antiquities celebrated on Nov. 3 the opening of the 12th edition of the International Congress of Egyptologists.

The ministry held a gala dinner at the Giza Pyramids that was attended by 600 archaeologists from all over the world. The ministers of antiquities, planning, investment and communications attended the dinner. This is in addition to ambassadors of some foreign and Arab countries in Egypt.

The participants are set to visit the Giza Pyramids and Salah el-Din Citadel. Also, a dinner party will be hosted by the Ministry of Antiquities and its permanent partners represented in foreign archaeological institutes in Egypt at Prince Mohamed Ali Palace in Manial.

The 12th edition of the International Conference of Egyptologists is being hosted in Cairo from Nov. 3 to 8, under the patronage of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

During the ceremony, Anani honored a number of archaeologists for their efforts and contributions to Egypt and Egyptology, including German archaeologist Stefan Zelden Mayo, Japanese archaeologist Sakubi Yoshimura, American archaeologist Mark Lehner and Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass.
