CAIRO - 3 November 2019: The management of Caftan Bladi Moroccan Festival's first edition held in Barcelona, Spain honored Egyptian star Somaya el-Khashab at the opening ceremony on Saturday.

The honoring came from the Moroccan community in Barcelona on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the Green March. Egypt was chosen as the festival’s guest of honor, and Moroccan singer Faiza Yahiaoui was also honored.

While in Barcelona, Khashab was surprised to receive a three-year prison sentence in absentia in the case of issuing a cheque without credit to her ex-husband artist Ahmed Saad. The star explained to the press that her lawyer will take the necessary actions and that she will fight for her right, as long as Ahmed Saad does not respect his word (according to her), especially that family members were trying to end the problems between them.

Saad also came out and explained the circumstances of the ruling against Somaya el- Khashab, saying: “In spite of all that has been raised about the current crisis of artist Somaya el-Khashab, it has occurred by procedural error and without my knowledge. I am now outside Egypt and I am offering this explanation just to be fair despite the disagreements between us. The issue has been resolved with the consent of both parties.”
