‘Diego and Frida’ exhibition in Cairo marks Mexico's Independence Day

CAIRO - 24 September 2019: The Mexican Embassy in Egypt in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute in Cairo organized an exhibition exposes striking and crucial moments of the peculiar life of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, on the occasion of Mexico's Independence Day.

The exhibition, consisting of 48 (50X70cm) photographs printed on cardboard paper for Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, two of the great Mexican painters of the twentieth century, who formed a passionate, stormy and creative couple, which would be reflected in the art of the Mexican painter.

Rivera, is one of great Mexican painters and muralists who achieved universal famous for his art. His wife Frida, in addition to be distinguished for her pictorial work, became an icon of female improvement and gender equality in the world. Both, in addition, for their universal art and intense public life, became one of the most interesting couples of the twentieth century.

The exhibition, through photographs of art artists such as Guillermo Zamora, Agustín Víctor Casasola, Juan Guzmán, Bernard G. Silverstein, Manuel Álvarez Bravo, Lucienne Bloch, among others, exhibits different stages of the life of this extraordinary couple since their early childhood, youth, their marriage relationship, and also highlights scenes of their revolutionary life.
