CAIRO - 31 August 2019: The Egyptian short movie ''Amma alwan'' (Color Blind) will compete in the short film competition of El Gouna Film Festival.

''Amma alwan'' depicts an encounter between two Egyptians in a Victorian cemetery in Bristol.

He is a husband and father who is working abroad to support his family, while she is on a two-week vacation that turned into two months.

As they begin to learn more about one another, they discover that even though they come from the same country, they have almost nothing in common. The film examines gender and class through the perspectives of its two protagonists.

''Amma alwan'' is directed and written by Menna Ekram.


It is worth mentionong that the organizers of El Gouna Film Festival's third edition revealed granting Mohamed Henedy the Creative Achievement Award for his significant contribution to cinema.The festival’s third edition is scheduled to run from September 19 -27.

The festival's management decided granting Palestinian director Mai Masry the same award. Masry is one of the most prominent Palestinian directors. She is known for her documentaries, which focused on women and children.
