CAIRO – 12 June 2017: For the second year in a row actress Sawsan Badr is taking part in Egyptian National Theatre. She is acting in “Lovers’ Moon,” produced by the theatre’s artistic house and shown daily at 10 PM at Attaba National Theatre.

Despite a plethora of Ramadan series dominating the small screens, the play has had remarkable turnout.

Badr decided to take a break from acting in Ramadan series and choosing instead to perform on stage, she told Ein on Friday, adding that the stage is her “first home.” Theater holds a special place in her heart and is prioritized in her life, she added.

Badr said her experience last year in “Praise of Love” was quite successful and proved that the audience is looking for quality and value, especially since the show tackled the topic of tolerance in Islam. Badr said it was a “much needed topic of discussion” to prove Islam is not violent.

The success of “Praise of Love” encouraged the theater’s production team to work on “Lovers’ Moon,” Badr said. The story calls for the return to God through love.

Badr also expressed her happiness to play the role of a woman who strayed from the path leading her to God and faith but found her way back. She added that she was sure that the play would receive a large audience since she was sure the audience would be looking for and would find true meaningfulness and value in a play like this.
