CAIRO - 26 May 2019: Head of the Media Syndicate Tarek Saada confirmed that the council of the Media Syndicate decided to ban famed TV presenter Basma Wahba, presenter of “Sheikh el-Hara” program broadcast on El Kahera Wel Nas channel.

The ban was based on the syndicate's media observatory report on the professional and moral abuses it observed during May 19 episode which hosted actor Maged el-Masry; the abuses contravened the Code of Media Honor and Code of Professional Conduct.

"The episode also violated the law of the Media Syndicate No. 93 of 2016, which prohibited the practice of media activity without registration in the syndicate’s schedules or obtaining a permit to practice a profession, as she (Basma) did not formalize her activities with the syndicate and is not bound by any registration schedules. She did not obtain a permit to practice the profession in accordance with articles 2-19 of the syndicate's law,” Saada's official statement read.
